Christmas!

It’s COLD. Brrrrr. And yet, there’s not real snow. It kinda dribbles, and then everything melts. BAH! The other night though, I was crossing the Thames on the way back from work, and there were people playing Christmas songs on the bridge, and it was snowing and it was all pretty, and I was squeeing a little (on the inside)… and then the wind swept down the river and I almost keeled over. AHH COLD. I have a really adorable hat though, that looks like a blueberry, has the little stem knitted in at the top. :P I try and take it off before heading into the office, it’s not exaaaactly professional looking.

Marcus and I had a very enthused and involved conversation about Christmas albums this morning, I think the conclusion was that we liked Mariah’s album best, and that Christina’s had far too much embellishment. I like my Christmas songs plain. Haha. Excerpt:

me: i’ve been listening to the OC christmas album hhaha

Marcus: oooooh
me: oh
and
it has last christmas
me: sung by jimmy eat world!!
Marcus: OMG
what!
omg
me: i am also listening to
Marcus: OHH MY GAHD.
hahaha
ok
me: christmas, baby please come home
sung by…..
ANBERLIN
:D :D :D
Marcus: :o :O!!!!!
Haha. I don’t know how to type these days without smileys. And I’ve really been trying to work on that. Words don’t seem expressive enough anymore! Then I start overthinking how the person’s going to interpret it, and I change words, then it just sounds stilted and odd. Or has outings to the more outre areas of my vocabulary.
So this week’s going to be exciting! Anna’s coming to stay for a day, then it’s christmas eve at my brother’s place, then christmas day with a bunch of his friends, then the start of the boxing day sales! I’ve agreed with him that we’ll buy each other our big presents there, since all we’ve managed to get for each other are a few small things. Haha. Then on the 27th Sarah arrives, and there will be more shopping! Wheeee. And I suppose other sightseeing type things. At some point. Around the shopping. Which I shouldn’t be doing any of, because I’m broke.
So in preparation for the exciting week ahead, I have done -nothing- this weekend. Except some washing up and laundry. Should be cleaning, but cannot seem to make myself. Oh well. I shall try and get it done Mon/Tues before friends start arriving. :P
Oh and I spoke to my mum this morning, and guess where she’s going to be on Christmas day? On a bus from Vietnam to Cambodia. Haha. My mum rocks.

And I get to be Santa’s Helper at my workplace -_-” Just like last year. I guess that means standing up the ENTIRE time while people get their presents. And I’m being asked to do ridiculous things. Like wear a red skirt (which I don’t have) and a red Christmassy hat (which I don’t have) and dance cha-cha (WTF?!?!?! Which I don’t WANT to).

I think I’d rather chuck a sicky, but I want my drinks!

But yes, I do agree that your mum IS spectacular :P

    Masses of Drink is good!
My dept’s Xmas celebrations start in 1.5 hours and we have loads of food. and baileys. and wine.. judging from what I see on our impromptu buffet table.

O yeah, we get food – not catered, my admin asst and I went out to buy chips, crackers, nuts, cheeses & dips lol. It looked really good too *proud grin*

Anyway, the presents are from the Secret Santa thing…NOT from the organisation (they’re too miserly that way). One of the gifts got massive laughs – everyone thought someone wrapped a ball of tinsel and that’s it! The tinsel was wrapped around a phone holder though. You know, one of those that you hang at the power socket to charge your phone :P

Btw, does anyone at your workplace drive to work? Loads of drinks + no food sounds like a bad combination…

Marc: definitely earrings and necklaces and bracelets etc. :P

You have an admin assistant? My word. :P Colour me impressed!

Nah, noone really drives in London, the congestion charge plus limited parking at the office makes it rather unfeasible. Unless you’re a partner I suppose. It was at a hotel anyway, not the office. I think most people cabbed back, and the ones my level that can’t afford that yet took the last tube home. :P

The drinking on empty stomachs thing did lead to a lot of hilarity and shenanigans though, or so we’ve heard! :P
